July 24, 2014 - Chockpish, New Brunswick - Robert Goguen, Member of Parliament for Moncton – Riverview – Dieppe, on behalf of the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, announced today that the Government of Canada is investing $2.3 million in harbour improvement projects at ten small craft harbours in eastern New Brunswick.
Funding is being allocated for:
- Completion of the reconstruction of the marginal wharf at Les Aboiteaux (Cap-Pelé), which began last year;
- Completion of the installation of a new electrical system at Miscou, which also began last year.
As well, funding has been allocated for redredging at the following locations:
- Cap-de-Saint-Louis
- Cap-Lumière (Richibucto Cape)
- Chockpish (Sainte-Anne-de-Kent)
- Les Aboiteaux (Cap-Pelé)
- Miller Brook (Salmon Beach)
- Pigeon Hill
- Saint-Edouard-de-Kent
- Sainte-Marie-sur-Mer
- Stonehaven
Other projects in New Brunswick being funded by the Small Craft Harbours Program will be announced at a later date.
This funding is part of the Government of Canada’s investment of $106 million in repair, construction, maintenance and dredging projects at harbours across Canada. This includes $66 million in annual program funding for 2014-15 and an additional $40 million over two years, as announced in Economic Action Plan 2014.
