Ottawa, February 14, 2014 – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today announced the reappointment of Thomas J. Kaye to the Parole Board of Canada.
“As an independent administrative tribunal, the Parole Board of Canada makes conditional release, record suspension and clemency decisions that contribute to the protection of society,” said Minister Blaney. “I congratulate Mr. Kaye, a highly qualified, knowledgeable and experienced individual, on his appointment.”
Mr. Kaye is from Kingston, Ontario. He has been reappointed as a full-time member and designated as the Vice-Chairperson. Mr. Kaye was first appointed to the Board in March 2011. He began a policing career in December 1976 with the Metropolitan Toronto Police. He has since served with the Shelburne and Cobourg Police Services before being appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of Police for the Smiths Falls Police Service. In 1995, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the Owen Sound Police Service and promoted to Chief of Police in 1998.
