Program to provide funding to improve security of Canada's vital cyber systems

February 4, 2014 - Ottawa

The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today launched the Cyber Security Cooperation Program (CSCP), a new five-year funding initiative to support projects that will contribute to the security of Canada's vital cyber systems. Minister Blaney also announced the program's first call for proposals.

A total of $1.5M in grants and contributions will be available for initiatives that will improve cyber security in Canada by increasing access to tools, guidelines and best practices by industry, critical infrastructure and government.

Quick Facts

Funding through the CSCP will be available to a range of applicants, including owners and operators of vital cyber systems, industrial and trade associations, academics, research organizations, and provincial, territorial, and local governments and authorities.
Funding will be available for initiatives to improve cyber security for systems outside of the federal government. These initiatives could, for example, develop tools for owners of critical infrastructure to assess and identify their own vulnerabilities, or produce guidance on and access to cyber security best practices.
There are four research themes identified by the CSCP.
The call for proposals closes March 16.
