Ottawa, Ontario, September 18, 2012—Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada’s Labour Minister, congratulated Dynamex Canada Corp. and the Teamsters, Local 879, for ratifying a new collective agreement.
“I am very pleased that Dynamex Canada Corp. and Teamsters, Local 879, have successfully negotiated a new agreement without interruption to services,” said Minister Raitt. “Strong labour‑management relations benefit the economic prosperity and security of Canadians.”
Dynamex is a transportation company offering same-day transport and logistical services to customers in Canada and the United States. The collective agreement covering approximately 85 contractors employed by Dynamex Canada Corp. expired on March 31, 2012. The new agreement between the company and Local 879 is valid until September 16, 2015.
Negotiated agreements are in the best interest of the organization, employees, businesses and the Canadian economy. This agreement was reached with the assistance of a mediator from the Government of Canada’s Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
