MEDICINE HAT, ALBERTA, NOVEMBER 9, 2010-Mr. LaVar Payne, Member of Parliament for Medicine Hat, on behalf of the Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, today officially opened the new Medicine Hat Service Canada Centre.
"This wonderful facility offers more space and allows for a more interactive and welcoming environment to better meet the needs of Service Canada clients in the Medicine Hat area," said Mr. Payne.
This Service Canada Centre is designed to enhance access to services in Medicine Hat and surrounding areas.
Residents of Medicine Hat will continue to receive easy, convenient access to a full range of federal government programs and services through this new Service Canada Centre, including being able to apply for a passport or a Social Insurance Number, as well as Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security benefits. The Medicine Hat Service Canada Centre also offers a Service Canada Centre for Youth during the summer months.
Service Canada was created in 2005 to provide Canadians with faster, easier and more convenient access to government programs and services.
Service Canada offers single-window access to a wide range of Government of Canada programs and services for citizens through call centres, the Internet, and more than 600 points of service located across the country.
