Valmont Martin and Francine Landry, owners of the Auberge Les Jardins Inn, received the 2010 Tourism Atlantic Technology Award for their dedication to technology in promoting their business. The award, created by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), was presented Thursday evening during the annual conference of the Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick (TIANB).
"Our Government is pleased to support the tourism industry and its operators across Atlantic Canada," said the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), on behalf of the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of National Revenue, Minister of ACOA and Minister for the Atlantic Gateway. "When a member of the tourism industry makes great strides in advancing their business, they help advance the region as a result."
Located in Edmundston, Auberge Les Jardins Inn features luxurious themed rooms in a quiet country setting. This property is open year-round and provides an ideal accommodation choice for both the leisure and business traveler.
In 2009, Auberge Les Jardins Inn launched an on-line sales initiative using the ReservIT platform and acquired the Hotello property management software (PMS), both designed to improve the profile of the Inn through portals such as Expedia, Travelocity, Venere, and on GDS sites such as Pegasus, Sabre and Amadeus. Using these technologies allowed them to increase their Internet sales and their visibility on the web.
"We are proud to be recognized as leaders in our field," said Valmont Martin, President of Auberge Les Jardins Inn. "There are very few operations of our size that have such an Internet presence and offer on-line reservations similar to the big hotel chain."
In 2004, the Tourism Atlantic branch of ACOA, along with four provincial Tourism Industry Associations, created the technology award to recognize a tourism operator in each Atlantic province for innovative and creative use of technology to complement their tourism practices and to create a competitive advantage for their business.
