OTTAWA - The Government of Canada has received and begun to review a financial analysis report from N.M. Rothschild and Sons Limited on the restructuring of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL).
The restructuring of AECL is part of an effort to strengthen Canada's nuclear industry to better position it to build on Canadian technology and access opportunities at home and abroad. The financial analysis and advice contained in this report will be key in informing the next steps in the AECL restructuring process.
No decision has been made at this time as to the specific form the restructuring will take and we continue to listen to the views of nuclear stakeholders as we develop a plan to move forward. The report will not be made public due to commercial confidentiality considerations.
Our commitment to move forward with the restructuring of AECL remains very much at the heart of our nuclear agenda.
