David Emerson held senior cabinet positions in the Government of Canada, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Industry and Minister of International Trade with Responsibility for 2010 Winter Olympics and Asia Pacific Gateway Initiative. He was first elected to the House of Commons in 2004 and re-elected in 2006. Mr. Emerson served as President and CEO of Canfor Corporation, the first President and CEO of the Vancouver International Airport Authority, and Chairman and CEO of Canadian Western Bank. In the Government of British Columbia, he served as Deputy Minister of Finance, Secretary to Treasury Board, Deputy Minister to the Premier, Secretary to Cabinet and President of the British Columbia Trade Development Corporation. Mr. Emerson currently serves as a senior advisor for the law firm of Farris, Vaughn, Wills and Murphy LLP, chairs the Premier's Economic Advisory Council and holds memberships on the boards of Finning International and TimberWest Forest Corp. David Emerson was appointed the Executive Chair of the British Columbia Transmission Corporation in November, 2008. In this role, he presides over the Board of Directors and holds the responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer. He holds a doctorate in economics from Queens University and bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from the University of Alberta.
