RCMP Busts Another Cocaine Importing Ring at Pearson

TORONTO, Feb. 5 - The RCMP's General Investigation Impact Team at Pearson Airport has busted yet another ring of cocaine importers using a hapless single mother as a courier.
In January 2006 a 25 year old student and single mother, was arrested at Toronto International Airport for importing 2 kilograms of cocaine into Canada. The woman was recruited by a family friend and introduced to two men who allegedly offered her an all expense paid trip to Antigua and $5,000 in exchange for smuggling cocaine into Canada.
"Thanks to some good police work by the investigator this trio will not be exploiting anyone else for awhile," said Sgt. Frank Gougeon, head of the General Investigation Impact Team.
The RCMP has charged Maxine Rose (32) of Markham, Darryl Taylor (26) of Toronto, and Charles McLean (41) of no fixed address with conspiring to import cocaine into Canada, and importing cocaine into Canada. Rose and Taylor are currently before the courts on these charges and a warrant has been issued for McLean who is believed to have fled to St. Vincent.
