OTTAWA , November 30, 2007 - The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, today announced the following appointment:
The Honourable Patrick J. Duncan, Q.C. , a lawyer with Beveridge, MacPherson & Duncan in Halifax, is appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia. He rep laces Mr. Justice A.P. Boudreau (Digby) who elected to become a supernumerary judge.
Mr. Justice Duncan received a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University in 1979, and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Francis Xavier in 1976. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1980. Mr. Justice Duncan is a former staff Lawyer for Nova Scotia Legal Aid and a partner of Beveridge, MacPherson & Duncan, Barristers & Solicitors in Halifax since 1986. He has developed a practice expertise in criminal law, administrative law, and civil litigation. In addition Mr. Justice Duncan taught/lectured and presented at numerous conferences over the past fourteen years, he was an advisor for Coverdale Courtwork services for women, and a volunteer for the Public Legal Education Society.
This appointment is effective immediately.
