Governor General to inaugurate reconstructed Bytown Bridges and Confederation Boulevard

OTTAWA – Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, and His Excellency John
Ralston Saul will unveil a plaque at the inauguration of the reconstructed Bytown Bridges and Confederation Boulevard, the
capital's ceremonial route. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 8, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at 111 Sussex Drive.
This summer saw the completion of an important section of Confederation Boulevard along Sussex Drive North from King Edward
avenue to the forecourt of Rideau Hall and the Sussex Drive Gateway roundabout. The two historic Bytown Bridges have also
been reconstructed as part of a two-year project.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, had originally opened the Bytown Bridges in 1954.
