OTTAWA, April 21, 2004 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Canda Enterprise Co., Ltd. are warning people with allergies to soy, sesame or anchovy not to consume Six Fortune Japanese Udon Noodle Beef Flavor. The affected product may contain soy, sesame and anchovy which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have allergies to soy, sesame or anchovy. The affected product, Six Fortune Japanese Udon Noodle Beef Flavor, a product of Korea, is sold in a 210 g package bearing the UPC 0 79763 25134 9. The importer, Canda Enterprise Co., Ltd., Burnaby, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product has been distributed in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Yukon. Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy, sesame or anchovy. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
