Starting September 6 at the NFB Space in Montreal. Experience CHOM5KY vs CHOMSKY, an immersive virtual-reality installation that questions AI.

News release

July 5, 2023 – Montreal – National Film Board of Canada (NFB)

This September, the NFB Space in Montreal will host the North American premiere of the interactive installation CHOM5KY vs CHOMSKY: A playful conversation on AI, an engaging and collaborative virtual-reality exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) that offers a thought-provoking take on how artificial intelligence intersects with human life.

Created by Sandra Rodriguez and co-produced by the Interactive Studio of the NFB’s French Program and Germany’s Schnelle Bunte Bilder, this four-person 45-minute shared experience invites participants to take part in the conversation and examine for themselves the promises and pitfalls of AI.

Guided by an entity built on the digital traces of Noam Chomsky and animated by conversation, CHOM5KY vs CHOMSKY will be presented in Montreal from September 6 through October 1, in a state-of-the-art installation in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. It made its world premiere last November at KINDL – Centre for Contemporary Art in Berlin.

The NFB Space is located at 1500 Balmoral Street, facing Place des Festivals in Montreal. Tickets are now on sale online at chomskyvschomsky.ca
