History and Nature in Focus During Halloween on the Plains
News release
Québec (Québec), September 13, 2023 – From September 30 to November 12, the Plains of Abraham fall programming will offer guided activities to celebrate Halloween and allow visitors to discover the mysteries of the park. Macabre stories, gruesome legends, and fascinating creatures will create a magical and spooky atmosphere to celebrate the season.
New this year, the family-friendly Arachnophobia and More activity presents macro photography and live specimens of intriguing insects and arachnids. Another animal presentation, the birds of prey free flight demonstrations, will also return for an afternoon of aerial acrobatics suitable for children. Children can also explore the park with fun puzzles—and surprises!—with the Abracadabra treasure hunt.
At the Martello towers, participants will discover different aspects of the 19th century through interactive activities. Tales of the Bad Old Days evenings will lift the veil on the dark side of this era, while the Convict’s Last Drink, which includes a beer tasting, recreates the ambience of a historical tavern. The Ghoulish Walk and Stories to Wake the Dead are also great activities for those who love spine-tingling stories. At the Joan of Arc Garden, folk art created by Patrick Lavallée will return to bring the park’s legends to life.
In addition to Halloween activities, the programming also includes numerous activities to encourage visitors to explore the park and its history. The Plains of Abraham Museum is currently presenting three exhibits, including Aeria, which will leave the Museum in January 2024. The temporary Homes of Cove Fields installation will be presented behind the Museum until the end of October. Finally, the park’s numerous paths are a great opportunity to enjoy the natural spectacle of autumn.
