After you submit your waiver request
After we get your request, we’ll
- review it to make sure that you qualify for the waiver
- tell you our decision or ask for more information
We can’t guarantee the approval of a waiver request. Our officers will review all requests on a case-by-case basis.
If we approve your waiver request
You do not need to take the test, prove your language skills or take the oath of citizenship (depending on the waiver of you asked for).
If you check your application status, these sections of the status tracker will have a “Waived” status (where applicable):
- Citizenship test
- Language skills
- Citizenship ceremony
If we refuse your waiver request
We’ll send you a letter to let you know if we refuse a request.
You must take the test, prove your language skills or take the oath (depending on the waiver you asked for).
If you need help meeting these requirements, you can request an accommodation for accessibility or another reason.
