Online application
The calculator is now available in the online account(opens in a new tab) .
- You can only use the calculator after you create your account.
- To do your calculation, follow the instructions in the “Physical presence calculator” section of the online account.
Before you apply online, you can check if you have at least 1,095 days of physical presence with the calculator for paper application(opens in a new tab) .
You must still use the calculator in your account to apply online.
Track your time with the travel journal (optional)
You may use our travel journal to record your trips outside Canada.
- This helps you calculate how many days you’ve been in Canada.
- You don’t need to include the travel journal in your application.

You have 2 options to do your calculation:
Option 1: Use the online physical presence calculator (recommended)
How to use the online calculator:
- Fill out the calculator.
- Print your completed calculation.
- Include the calculation printout in your application.

Option 2: Complete the CIT 0407 form
If you can’t or don’t want to use the online physical presence calculator

- include the completed form in your application
