How to get a police certificate – Ireland
If you need to give your fingerprints for a police certificate, this isn’t the same as giving your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) for an application.
Name of the document you need
Police Certificate
Police certificates and IRCC requirements
You must provide a police certificate when you apply for permanent residence in Canada.
How to apply
You must apply in person or by mail to the superintendent who is in charge of the district where you live or lived. There is no centralized police computer system serving county superintendent offices, and each county’s Garda Síochána office issues their own certificates.
For more information, visit the Garda Síochána website.
Contact information
Contact information for each district is available on the Irish National Police Station Directory.
