The Canadian passport is the only reliable and universally accepted travel and identification document available to Canadians for the purpose of international travel. It is also one of the most secure and most respected travel documents in the world.

It’s no accident that Canada is renowned for its integrity and has a sterling reputation the world over.

Canada has always maintained excellent relations with the international community.

And the Canadian passport is one of most secure and most respected at a time when security is a major concern for all nations.

Background changes to a busy airport terminal. A Canadian passport floats across the screen leaving a background of various international travel destinations.

Narrator: For a Canadian citizen, it’s the only proof of identity and nationality accepted all over the world.

Another important advantage is that it provides access to many different countries without having to apply for a travel visa.

A Canadian passport opened to page 2 with various sections being highlighted one at a time. First is the machine readable zone, next the holographic images and last the ghost photo.

Narrator: The Canadian passport has many security features:

• a machine-readable zone that can be read at border checkpoints;
• holographic images;

In 2012, Canada will move to the next generation of passports.
