ARCHIVED – Backgrounder — Appointment and reappointments to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada

Patricia Greenside

Prior to her appointment with the Board, Patricia Greenside (Toronto) was a volunteer with Women’s Habitat having recently returned from Ethiopia. She was a Bookkeeper and Office Manager with Kostiniuk & Greenside law firm, Member with the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal and a Rent Officer with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Ms. Greenside received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.

Roslyn Ahara

Roslyn Ahara (Toronto) was appointed to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada on April 21, 2008. Ms. Ahara, former IRB member from 1989 to 1994 and member of the Immigration Appeal Board from 1987 to 1989, was a licensed real estate agent. Prior to that, she was Vice Chair and Member on the Ontario Parole and Earned Release Board from 1995 to 2005. Ms. Ahara attended John Abbott College.

Edward J. Bosveld

Edward J. Bosveld (Toronto) was appointed to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada on January 25, 2008. Prior to his appointment to the Board, Mr. Bosveld held various positions with the Christian Labour Association of Canada, including Provincial Director, Regional Director and Legal Affairs Coordinator. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Redeemer University College and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Windsor.

Christine Lloyd

Christine Lloyd (Toronto) was appointed to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada on January 7, 2002. Prior to her appointment to the Board, Ms. Lloyd had a long career in business, working as Coordinator of Market Research at the Toronto-Dominion Bank, as Director of Market Research at the Hudson's Bay Company, as General Manager of Marketscope, a division of Southam Inc., and as Managing Director of Management Horizons Canada, a division of Price Waterhouse. She has also served as a lay member of the Competition Tribunal. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Brunswick and her certificate in Continuing Marketing Studies from the University of Waterloo.

Elana Rose

Elana Rose (Toronto) was appointed to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada on January 7, 2008. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Rose was working at the East Toronto Community Legal Services Inc. first as a general practitioner and then as an Immigration and Disability Appeal lawyer. She also had a private business doing Family mediation, and taught law at George Brown College. Ms. Rose received her Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in Montreal and her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa. She was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1989.
