The instructions regarding who must submit to an immigration medical exam (IME) have been updated to include guidance on non-accompanying family members of foreign nationals, and to clarify medical exemptions. These are complimentary to the changes made to the program delivery instructions (PDI) on April 2, 2024.

New instructions are now available that provide clarification for officers on examination requirements versus admissibility assessments. Instructions are also provided regarding situations when the requirement to have a family member medically examined can’t be met by the principal applicant.
