These instructions provide updated operational guidance on the processing of applications to support Ukrainian nationals and their foreign national family members seeking temporary residence in Canada following the conclusion of the Canada–Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) measures on March 31, 2024.
Effective August 1, 2024, measures have been extended for CUAET visa holders who were issued a CUAET temporary resident visa on or after February 4, 2024, and who were unable to travel to Canada by March 31, 2024.
Ukrainians and their family members who applied for a CUAET visa on or before July 15, 2023, but who did not receive a decision by February 4, 2024 (now referred to as unprocessed CUAET applicants), may be eligible to travel to Canada as a CUAET visa holder and receive the following benefits associated with CUAET, including
- port of entry (POE) facilitation (waiver of bona fides and financial inadmissibility requirements)
- the ability to apply until December 31, 2024, at POE upon arrival or inland for a fee-exempt study permit or open work permit and for an extended stay
