This section contains policy, procedures and guidance used by IRCC staff. It is posted on the department’s website as a courtesy to stakeholders.
To support family reunification for those affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Government of Canada has published a new temporary public policy that facilitates granting permanent residence to certain Ukrainian nationals currently in Canada and who have family in Canada who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents. The public policy will also facilitate the issuance of permanent resident visas to their eligible family members outside Canada.
Applicants can apply for permanent residence under this public policy from October 23, 2023 until October 22, 2024, inclusively.
