Working with ceremony officials, partners and guests for citizenship ceremonies

Citizenship ceremonies are organized and held as state functions. As such CIC bears full responsibility for the ceremony and takes the main role in organizing all citizenship ceremonies. Delivering a ceremony often involves working with event partners and other third parties.

Styles of address
CIC officials should refer to the Canadian Heritage’s current protocol of addressing dignitaries and others.
It is important to inform Nat-Cit-Operations when a prominent guest is invited to a citizenship ceremony or when partnering with a province/territory, a municipality or the Institute for Canadian Citizenship to deliver citizenship ceremonies.
