Governance structures
The Strategic Policy and Planning Branch of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), through its GBA+ unit, assists the Department by facilitating, convening and supporting the application and implementation of GBA+ within IRCC. Planned initiatives
IRCC's proposed GBA+ Action Plan for 2018–19 includes the following initiatives:
- An update of the 2011 Policy on Gender-Based Analysis to better articulate the "plus," which expands GBA to include intersectional considerations such as ethnicity, race and socio-economic status.
- A renewed GBA+ internal Web page to help IRCC employees better incorporate GBA+ into their work.
- Ongoing data collection and research to better support GBA+.
Ongoing demonstration of the application and impact of GBA+ through further work with branches to include more robust gender and intersectional considerations within Memoranda to Cabinet, Treasury Board submissions, regulatory packages and Orders in Council.
