Response to the Call on the Pharmaceutical Industry to Voluntarily Suspend Marketing and Advertising of Opioids
In June 2018, the Minister of Health sent a letter to manufacturers and distributors of opioids in Canada requesting that they respond to the opioid crisis by immediately suspending any and all marketing and advertising of opioids to health care professionals on a voluntary basis.
To encourage a response from companies who had not yet responded to the Minister’s request, on January 31, 2019, Health Canada sent follow up letters to fifteen companies with opioid products on the market in Canada.
The following table lists responses received as of March 26, 2019.
