Health Canada works with the Public Health Agency of Canada and the provinces and territories to enhance infection prevention and control programs in health care facilities and other community settings by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating information related to diseases and conditions.
What's Being Done?
Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada tracking and prevention efforts include:
- systematically monitoring trends in health and health determinants;
- providing information for evidence-based decision-making;
- improving operations to better identify outbreaks, threats to health and emerging issues;
- developing and evaluating policies and programs to manage health risks;
- planning health services;
- improving our understanding of the determinants of health;
- facilitating research;
- helping to demonstrate accountability for efforts to protect health; and
- empowering people (individuals, health providers, governments and communities) with the information they need to take action to protect and improve health.
