Who’s covered under national pharmacare
You generally qualify for national pharmacare coverage if you:
- are a resident of a province or territory that has an agreement in place with the federal government
- are eligible for public health insurance in your province or territory, and
- have a valid prescription and authorization for a covered medication or related product, if needed
There may be some differences depending on your province or territory, so check its agreement for more details once it's available.
You're covered under pharmacare no matter your:
- age
- income
- private or workplace health insurance status
If you're covered under a federal public drug benefit program, you'll keep your existing coverage under that program.
