Report an adverse reaction to a natural health product: health care provider
Health care providers who suspect an adverse reaction (side effect) to a natural health product are strongly encouraged to report it. Talk to your patients about signs to watch for.

What natural health products are included
Natural health products are often made from plants, but can also be made from animals, micro-organisms and marine sources.
Natural health products, often called "complementary" or "alternative" medicines, include:
- probiotics
- herbal remedies
- vitamins and minerals
- homeopathic medicines
- traditional medicines like Chinese and Ayurvedic (East Indian) medicines
- other products like amino acids and essential fatty acids
Consumers should only use authorized natural health products. These will have a:
- Natural Product Number (NPN) or
- Homeopathic Medicine Number (DIN-HM)
