Minister Joly meets with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs in Riyadh

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met today with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, Minister Joly discussed how Canada and Saudi Arabia can advance the bilateral relationship and cooperation in service of inclusive peace and security throughout the region. She welcomed the progress made by the two countries since May 2023, when Ambassadors were re-appointed. Minister Joly also acknowledged the role that Canada can play in helping to advance Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 Agenda.
Minister Joly and Prince Faisal also discussed regional security challenges, including the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and the humanitarian situation in Gaza. They also exchanged views on Russia’s war in Ukraine, as well as the crises in Sudan and Haiti.
