The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced today that she will travel to San Francisco, California, on November 13-17, 2023, to participate in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Annual Ministerial Meeting hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken.

“The 2023 APEC Ministers’ Meeting in San Francisco is a great opportunity for Canada to continue its collaboration with APEC members. I look forward to discussing how we can all work together to enable and affirm an innovative environment for a sustainable future that is equitable and inclusive.”

• Minister Joly will be accompanying the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, who is participating in the 2023 APEC Leaders’ Meeting in San Francisco, from November 15-17, 2023.

• Canada is a founding member of the APEC, which has 21 member economies.

• The 21 member economies account for nearly 40 percent of the global population, around half of global merchandise trade, and approximately 60 percent of global GDP.

• Established in 1989, APEC promotes economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.
