Canada reaffirms support to United Kingdom following nerve agent incident

Global Affairs Canada today issued the following statement regarding the ongoing events in the United Kingdom:

“Canada reaffirms our support for the United Kingdom, which is investigating an incident on its territory involving a Novichok nerve agent.

“Our thoughts are with the two victims, their families, and first responders.

“This incident is a reminder of why the international community must uphold our collective commitment to prohibit the production and use of these dangerous weapons. Their use is a reckless breach of this commitment.

“As we await the results of the UK police investigation, Canada is unwavering in its commitment to the United Kingdom. We stand ready to offer any support required now and in the future.”
