Government of Canada invests $270,000 to support community, economic and business growth in the Municipality of Temagami

FedNor funding will help boost economic activity and create local jobs
February 2, 2024 – Temagami, ON – Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario – FedNor
Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing $270,000 to help create and advance economic development opportunities in the Municipality of Temagami. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Indigenous Services and Minister responsible for FedNor.
Provided through FedNor’s Community Investment Initiative for Northern Ontario (CIINO), the funding will enable the Municipality of Temagami to hire an Economic Development Officer (EDO) for a three-year period. While on the job, the EDO will undertake and advance economic priorities to help create jobs, strengthen the economy and position community for sustainable growth and prosperity. Key areas of focus for EDO will include broadband expansion, tourism, waterfront, land and commercial development, revitalizing the downtown, and more.
