Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES)
Note that international trade in wild specimens of Appendix I species for commercial purposes is prohibited. However, under certain conditions, specimens produced by captive breeding operations registered by CITES can be traded for commercial purposes.
Applications for registration of a captive breeding operation will be approved only if sufficient details are provided.
Registration is for captive breeding operations producing animals listed in Appendix I of CITES for commercial purposes.

Provide information on the number and size of enclosures used for reproduction and breeding, the facilities used to incubate eggs , the production or provision of food, the availability of veterinary services, and the maintenance of data. Describe (if any) the strategies or activities of the operation that contribute to improved
conservation of wild populations of the species.

Specify how the operation is carried out at all stages in a humane (noncruel) manner.
