Greenhouse gas emissions: quantification guidance
A greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory tracks the amount of anthropogenic (human-caused) GHGs emitted to or removed from the atmosphere during a specified time period. . Inventories can be compiled by country, province, organization or facility, or individual.
GHG tracking and reporting should be based on the quantification methods most appropriate for your industry or application. They should be complete, consistent, transparent and accurate.
This is a multi-step process which includes:
- identifying all anthropogenic GHG sources and sinks
- selecting the approach
- selecting and collecting the data
- selecting or developing GHG emission or removal factors
- applying the methodologies to quantify GHG emissions and/or removals
In This Section
This section contains information and guidance to assist when quantifying greenhouse gas emissions, whether for a national inventory, facility reporting.
