This figure shows the total number of reported Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permits sales in Canada since 1966, based on permit stubs returned to Environment and Climate Change Canada. Permits that were sold, but for which the stubs were not returned to Environment and Climate Change Canada are excluded from the totals. From 1966 to 1978, the number of permits sold across Canada increased from approximately 380,000 to 525,000. From 1978 to 2002, the number of permits reported sold across Canada declined to approximately 175,000 and has since remained fairly stable.
