Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is soliciting your feedback on the proposed renewal of the current 2020 to 2025 Environmental Performance Agreement Respecting the Use of Tin Stabilizers in the Vinyl Industry (2020 Agreement) which will expire on May 14, 2025.

The comments received during this period will be considered before the agreement is finalized and signed by the parties.

Who is the focus of this consultation

The proposed environmental performance agreement would be developed in collaboration with the Vinyl Institute of Canada and companies with facilities using tin stabilizers in Canada.

Key documents for discussion

It is proposed that the renewed Agreement would be similar to the 2020 Agreement and would be in place for a period of 5 years.

To date, facilities subject to the 2020 Agreement are meeting the objective of preventing the release of tin stabilizers into the environment by fully implementing the practices outlined in the Guideline for the Environmental Management of Tin Stabilizers in Canada.

This proposed renewal will ensure the continued implementation of effective stewardship practices by all vinyl compounding facilities using tin stabilizers in Canada. The key documents for discussion are the following:

ECCC is soliciting your feedback on the proposed renewal of the current 2020 Agreement. The information is collected, used and disclosed for the purpose of allowing Canadians the opportunity to provide formal written comments on the 2025 to 2030 Agreement before it is finalized. A summary of the comments submitted will be posted on ECCC’s Environmental Performance Agreements website. Your participation and decision to provide any information is voluntary.
