Description
This funding opportunity aims to fund projects in the form of collective impact plans that will measurably increase the social inclusion of vulnerable seniors.
Through this process, ESDC will fund backbone organizations to act as intermediaries. Backbone organizations will work with collaborating organizations to put in place a collective impact initiative.
Eligible organizations can apply for a project from $1 million to $5 million with a duration of 4 to 5 years.
ESDC expects that successful projects will begin in December 2024 and will be between 4 and 5 years in duration.
Objectives
This process aims to:
- build the collective capacity of organizations to recognize and address barriers to social inclusion faced by vulnerable seniors
- provide access to information, programs, and services for vulnerable seniors to enhance their social inclusion within their communities
- support services to seniors as part of action research to better understand effective approaches for increasing the level of social inclusion of vulnerable seniors in their communities
- develop innovative approaches to engage and keep senior volunteers to improve their social inclusion in their communities
- address systemic barriers that contribute to the social isolation of vulnerable seniors

Eligibility
This is a solicited funding process. ESDC will only solicit proposals from organizations who were successful under Step 1 (Call for Concepts) of this process. ESDC will not accept applications from unsolicited organizations.
Eligible applicants
Organizations must be in Canada and be one of the following types:
- not-for-profit organization
- for-profit organization (provided that the nature and intent of the activity is non-commercial and not intended to generate profit)
- municipal government
- Indigenous government (including band councils, tribal councils, and self-government entities)
Organizations can only submit 1 application as a backbone organization under this process.
The following organizations are eligible if their provincial or territorial government agree:
- post-secondary institutions
- public health and social services institution
To be eligible, all organizations must have a Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) business number or charitable registration number.
