Video: Logging into the LMIA Online Portal

This video shows you how to access the LMIA Online Portal.

Transcript: Logging into the LMIA Online Portal

Let's walk through the process of logging into the LMIA Online Portal.

First, make sure you are ready, and that the information in your Job Bank account is accurate.

Enter the website address for the LMIA Online Portal in your web browser. Once you arrive, enter your email and password and click "Sign in". Use the same log-in information you use to access your Job Bank account.

You should never share your log-in information with someone else.

If you have forgotten your password, click on the "Forgot my password" link and follow the steps on the screen.

To help keep your account safe, you will now be asked one of 5 security questions. You provided the answers to these questions when creating your Job Bank account. If you forget the answer to a specific question, you can always choose to answer another one instead.

If you have any trouble logging in, you can contact the Job Bank team.

Next, read the "Important message" to learn more about the LMIA Online Portal and understand its terms of use. You will have to consent to the information on this page in order to access the LMIA questionnaire, so make sure you read it carefully.

If you agree to the terms and conditions, click "Agree".

Now, we're at the main page of the LMIA Online Portal. From here, you can see the list of employers that you can submit an LMIA for, along with their business number.

Don't forget: before you can access the LMIA Online Portal, you must have an active user account with Job Bank, and you must register the business you are hiring for.

If you are a third party, you will also see your role with the employer listed. Note that a third party will see a list of employers to choose from, whereas an employer who is completing their own application will see a shorter list. They cannot see each other's lists.

Select the employer that you want to complete an LMIA application for.

You will then be brought to the Employer Dashboard page. From here, you can:

  • create a brand new LMIA application, or to save time, complete a new application that is based on an application you already submitted
  • find, complete or delete an application that is in progress, but hasn't been submitted to Service Canada
  • view the status of LMIA applications submitted to Service Canada
  • view decision letters issued by Service Canada
  • make a payment for an LMIA application
