Ten innovative homebuilding and construction manufacturers in southern Ontario scale up with Government of Canada investment

Today, the Honourable Ruby Sahota, Minister of Democratic Institutions and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced a combined repayable investment of nearly $19 million for 10 manufacturers in the homebuilding and construction sectors to expand production capabilities and adopt new equipment.

The Markham company will automate production and bring manufacturing capabilities in-house, which will reduce lead times, making their products more readily available to customers.

The Bolton company will adopt automated manufacturing equipment to improve productivity and efficiency in the production of prefabricated cold-formed steel framing products that are used in the Midrise construction industry, in addition to the manufacturing of new lightweight steel framing products that are used in the highrise construction industry.

The Arnprior company will enhance its prefabricated manufacturing capabilities through the adoption of advanced manufacturing equipment.

The Scarborough company will expand to manufacture precast foundation wall systems in a new facility being built in Shelburne, reducing reliance on wood forms that require replacement.

The Palmerston company will automate its extrusion processes and commercialize a new digital paint product for their PVC wall and ceiling boards alternatives to drywall.

The Uxbridge company will enhance its capabilities to design, commercialize and manufacture vertical access solutions, including construction hoists and industrial elevators, reducing lead and manufacturing times and enhancing service offerings.
