Local CFDC to develop a regional growth strategy for businesses and organizations in Prescott-Russell communities
News release
Federal investment helps businesses and organizations to grow in Prescott-Russell
June 26, 2024 – Hawkesbury, Ontario
Rural businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs, including those in Official Language Minority Communities (OLMCs), play a critical role in growing our local and national economy.
To support rural businesses in the Prescott-Russell region and enhance their growth, the Société de développement communautaire de Prescott-Russell (SDCPR) has developed a multi-year strategy. This strategy is expected to provide a roadmap to strengthen the region’s economy and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs. It aims to attract and retain business investments, create jobs, and foster innovation and growth in key sectors such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, biodiversity, manufacturing, advanced robotics, and more.
The strategy will be developed in collaboration with the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR), to support the advancement of businesses and organizations in the UCPR. It will also leverage contributions from regional partners. The SDCPR is receiving over $90,000, through the Economic Development Initiative, to help analyze current economic challenges and limitations and help increase competitiveness and opportunities for growth in the region.
When we build a more inclusive economy, we build a strong economy that works for everyone. The Government of Canada remains committed to creating opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs across our OLMCs and rural communities and is providing the tools to facilitate sustainable growth.
