Backgrounder: Six Ottawa tech and AI companies to scale and grow

Today, the Honourable Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Member of Parliament for Kanata–Carleton, along with Yasir Naqvi, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre, highlight a repayable investment of more than $10 million in six growing tech and AI companies in Ottawa.

Armstrong Monitoring Corp. (AMC)

The company is modernizing its facility to fully transform its products into its next-generation gas detection platform. AMC will create skilled jobs, increase manufacturing capacity, improve energy efficiency, and support front-line technology used to protect people and the environment from exposure to hazardous gases.

Larus Technologies Corp.

The company is developing and commercializing advanced Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), for retailers and businesses that specialize in e-commerce, complex supply chains, and consumer brands to improve and optimize their business planning, price forecasting, consumer research, and create jobs.

Ranovus Inc.

The company is scaling to commercial in-house production, at its Kanata location, of its Odin 8 chip to approximately 100,000 units annually. This will enhance Canadian-made semiconductor manufacturing and create skilled jobs. This FedDev Ontario investment will support the over $19 million project.

ThinkRF Corp. 

The company is scaling its automated wireless monitoring solutions, including its Spectrum Experience products, to address the growing economic and public safety dependency on wireless networks. As a result, the company will create jobs, accelerate production of its hardware, and better meet the increased market opportunities for 5G network implementation.

TryCycle Data Systems Inc.

The company is scaling and strengthening its mental health tech platforms, TetherAll and Talking Stick, and its workforce to reach new markets across Canada, the U.S., and abroad, including Indigenous and veteran communities, first responders, and students, as well as create skilled jobs.

TutorOcean Inc.

The company is introducing new AI functionalities to its personalized Student Success learning platform, allowing it to expand its customer base and reach new international markets in Europe and Asia, as well as create skilled jobs in the Ottawa region.
