9. Remarks:

  1. This is a permanent Class B position with a continued engagement for a [Period of service] IAW Ref A. The applicant will be a Staff Officer within the [Formation HQ/RCSU].  Initially, they will be in the job of [Position Title] but can expect to be assigned to other tasks and potentially fill another role within the Formation during their employment period.
  2. As per Ref C, the member is responsible for contacting their home unit to request nomination for the REO. The home unit will conduct a staff check to ensure the member does not have any outstanding administrative or disciplinary action pending on their file prior to nomination. Nominations must be made in Monitor Mass a minimum of 48 hours prior to the competition closing date.  Supporting documents must be received by the REO OPI no later than 2359 Pacific standard-time on the closing date.
  3. The employment of Regular Force annuitants is strictly controlled within the CAF and must be approved by the VCDS. This permanent position is advertised as either an Option 1 or Option 2 Reserve Employment Opportunity; however preference will be given to suitably qualified non-annuitant applicants. In the absence of a suitably qualified COATS or Primary Reserve non-annuitant member, Regular Force annuitants will be considered and may be offered the position on an Option 1 contract basis with employment limitations on the number of days employed annually. Annuitant employment periods shall not exceed three years in the position at which time the position must be posted for competition through REO.
  4. Applicants must provide a cover letter and resume describing in detail specifically how the applicant satisfies each of the required experience, quals and secondary requirements and including the fol:
    1. Security clearance expiry date;
    2. Dates available;
    3. Contact numbers at work and home;
    4. Confirmation of whether or not member is in receipt of a pension under the CFSA attributable to Reg F svc;
    5. Email contact information for two work references;
    6. Members current military supervisor may also be contacted.

  5. In addition to the required cover letter and resume, applicants may choose to submit additional supporting documentation (e.g. performance evaluations, course reports, letters, and awards) for consideration. Information in those documents will be considered by the selection board and HQ CO/RCSU CO (employing authority) to determine the applicant’s match to the required experience and qualifications and secondary requirements for the position, and their past performance and potential. In submitting these documents, applicants agree to their use for the purpose of the selection process
  6. As per Military Human Resources Records Procedures, the member’s home unit will be contacted to ensure the member does not have any outstanding administrative or disciplinary action pending 
  7. The CAF is now emphasizing the importance of COATS members in maintaining a healthy lifestyle as a CAF member and role model for youth. It will be the responsibility of each member to maintain their personal health and physical fitness through an active and healthy lifestyle. Additionally, COATS members who are employed on Class B service in excess of 180 days will be required to participate in the CAF FORCE program on an annual basis IAW DAOD 5023-2.

    1. A valid Police Records Check (PRC) and Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS);
    2. A valid medical;
