Minister of National Defence to travel to Brussels, Belgium to participate in Ukraine Defense Contact Group and NATO Defence Ministers’ Meetings

The Honourable Minister Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, will travel to Brussels, Belgium on October 11 and 12 to meet with allies and partners.

On October 11, Minister Blair will participate in the sixteenth meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, hosted by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III. This meeting is an important opportunity for approximately 50 countries to discuss the current and future defence needs of Ukraine, and to coordinate the provision of military aid to help Ukraine defend itself against Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable war.

On October 11 and 12, Minister Blair will participate in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting, where Allies will discuss current security challenges and our shared work to bolster the Alliance’s deterrence and defence.
