Minister of National Defence marks Canadian Armed Forces Day 2019

Minister of National Defence Harjit S. Sajjan issued the following statement:

“Today, on Canadian Armed Forces Day, we pay tribute to our brave women and men in uniform for their service to Canada, and thank them for the dedication, skill, and humanity they demonstrate when keeping Canadians safe here at home, and around the world.

“I am continually inspired by the commitment and selflessness of the members of our Canadian Armed Forces. Just last month, we saw their dedication in our own backyards when more than 2,300 members worked tirelessly in New Brunswick, Quebec, and Ontario to help the residents through severe flooding.

“Canada remains among the strongest and most secure countries in the world because of the sacrifices of our soldiers, sailors, airwomen and airmen who represent our country with pride and professionalism.

“Today, we also celebrate our military families. They truly are the strength behind the uniform.

“On behalf of all Canadians, thank you to all current and former Canadian Armed Forces members and their families for your contributions and your sacrifice.

“You make Canada proud.”
