Statement on the Death of Private Andrew Fitzgerald

August 19, 2016 – Toronto – National Defence / Canadian Armed Forces

The Command teams from 4th Canadian Division and the staff and students at 4th Canadian Division Training Centre Meaford are deeply saddened by the tragic discovery of the presumed body of Private Andrew Fitzgerald. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones as they deal with this tragic loss and our condolences go out to Andrew’s family and friends.

The first priority for the Canadian Armed Forces is to ensure that the family, fellow students, and staff are cared for and supported. The Canadian Armed Forces is providing direct support to Andrew’s family and friends, with an assisting officer on hand to offer care during this most difficult time.
