From January 27 to 29, 2025, the Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group (CAF TG) proudly participated in Cannexus 2025, Canada’s largest bilingual career development conference. Organized by the Canadian Education and Research Institute for Counselling (CERIC), Cannexus brings together career professionals to advance education, research, and advocacy in career counselling and development.
A Milestone for Military Transitions
This year’s conference featured a significant milestone: the introduction of the first Military-Connected Stream. This dedicated track addressed the unique needs of military personnel and their families transitioning to civilian life.
Key Highlights: Booth and Guide Launch<
CAF TG had a dedicated booth to showcase resources and initiatives designed specifically for military transitions. Visitors to the booth had the opportunity to engage with representatives and explore the comprehensive programs and services available to support their transition journey.
A standout moment of the event was the launch of the second edition of Military to Civilian Employment: A Career Practitioner’s Guide. This updated resource, developed with contributions from CAF, Veterans Affairs Canada, and Military Family Services, offers valuable insights for career professionals assisting transitioning CAF members.
Additionally, Jordan Camarda, National Manager of Military Transition Engagements & Partnerships at CAF TG, delivered a virtual presentation titled “Military Cultural Competency (MCC) Counselling”.
The session highlighted the importance of recognizing the military as a distinct culture within Canadian society. It offered participants valuable insights and practical strategies for integrating military cultural competency into their counselling practices. Key topics covered included:
