The Value of a Dollar

When you choose to donate, you might not realize the impact that every dollar has.  Whether you have chosen to donate to a charity with a focus on health care or helping those in need to find a stable home, every dollar donated helps immensely. To put into perspective the value of a dollar, here are some examples on how your donations to support the NDWCC has helped those in need.

Donations, whether large or small, have helped build stronger communities and empowered youth to grow and succeed. Here are some of the ways your donations have impacted the lives of our youth:

• $70 provides nutritious snacks to 100 kids at an after school program;
• $130 provides at risk primary school children with necessary school supplies to start the year off ready to learn;
• $400 provides one week of work experience wages for youth in an employment program;
• $1,200 provides 10 families with a 3-hour consultation to improve relationships between the parent and their child and find solutions to educational challenges their child is or might be facing.

In terms of health care, your donations have saved lives and help to create a healthier life for those in need. Here are some of the ways your donations have contributed:

• $4 per pay funds one day of research conducted by a graduate student under supervision of a senior leader;
• $12 per pay funds 4 days of lab work conducted by a graduate student to help combat lung infection and inflammation for those who have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis;
• $100 per pay helps send a cancer patient to a clinical trial to test potential life-saving treatments.

Your donations can make a difference just like the ones above and so much more for any charity of your choosing in many different ways.  Whether you have donated already or are still thinking about contributing to this year’s campaign, this is the type of impact you are making in your community. No matter how big or small, every dollar counts.
