Launch of Phoenix damages claims process for former employees
December 17, 2021 - Defence Stories
On December 16, 2021, a claims process was launched for former employees represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and by bargaining agent signatories of the 2019 damages agreement to submit claims for general Phoenix damages and catch-up payments.
A new, single application claims process is now available for:
- former PSAC employees to claim general compensation for damages related to Phoenix, including amounts for any periods they may have worked in a position not represented by PSAC
- former employees covered under the 2019 damages agreement to submit claims for leave credit amounts or amounts they may be owed under the 2021 catch-up memorandum of agreement
These amounts were paid out to current employees as part of their regular pay between March and September of 2021. As a current employee, if you have any questions about damages payments you received as part of your pay earlier this year, you can view a detailed breakdown of your payments on MyGCPay.
If you know of a former employee who may be eligible to submit a claim as part of this new process, please direct them to the General compensation for damages related to Phoenix page on canada.ca for more information.
With the launch of this claims process, all compensation elements of the Phoenix damages agreements, including the catch-up agreement, have been implemented. The Claims Office at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat will continue to work with departmental claims officers and Public Services and Procurement Canada officials to process claims in a timely manner.
