Are you a Defence Team member wondering if you have to wear a mask in the workplace?

Defence Team members are required to wear a mask that adheres to Public Health Agency of Canada specifications only when one cannot maintain a minimum 2 metre physical distancing.

However, you can continue to wear at all times if it makes you feel comfortable.

If you are in your own workspace/office, then a non-medical mask may not be necessary. You can politely ask visitors to your workspace to maintain a safe distance.

If you have a respiratory disease and cannot comfortably wear a mask, there are several options available to you in this situation.

With underlying health conditions, your supervisor will allow you to continue to work from home.

If you provide a critical service and must be in the work place, then your supervisor will provide non-medical masks/cloth masks in addition to following Public Health Measures.

It is strongly recommended that you talk to your Supervisor/Chain of Command and discuss the potential options. You can also get more information online from canada.ca/defence-team-covid-19.

Be sure to also follow the direction coming from your local health authorities on the matter.
