- A general election is scheduled to be held on Monday 29 May 23
- in accordance with the Alberta election act, r.s.a. 2000, c. e-1, as amended, members of the Canadian armed forces (CAF) and their dependents vote pursuant to civilian voting rules.
- A person is eligible to vote in Alberta provincial elections who on election day is:
- a Canadian citizen,
- of the full age of eighteen years as of election day,
- ordinarily resident in Alberta, and who provides authorized identification to confirm their identity and current residential address when voting.
- The online application for special ballots opened on 01 Mar 23. Electors who will be unable to vote in person on the days determined for advance voting or on election day may apply online at https://specialballot.elections.ab.ca/ or in-person at the returning office in their electoral division (opening to the public 02 May 23) or by calling 1-877-422-8683.
- CAF members and their dependents wanting to vote by mail should submit their special ballot applications early. Special ballots will be sent once the writ of election is issued on 1 May 23 and must be returned to elections Alberta or the returning office before 20:00 hrs on election day, 29 May 23.
- To vote, CAF members and their dependents must be registered on the list of electors. CAF members and their dependents may be added to the list of electors when applying for a special ballot. Those planning to vote during advance voting or on election day may register online at www.voterlink.ab.ca or by calling 1-877-422-8683. CAF members may also register in-person at the voting place.
- Identification showing name and current physical address is required when voting by special ballot or in-person during advance voting or on election day. A mailing address is accepted only if the elector is registered in advance and the mailing address is included on their registration.
- Commanding officers are to ensure the widest distribution of this message by the most appropriate means and, where applicable, its republication in routine orders.
